AgroTalks | OMICS Science

ChemService is hosting a webinar series, AgroTalks, to share their expertise and knowledge for the registration of low risk substances and on the High Tier Field GLP studies on non-target organisms. The following event will be our second on three conferences. Have a look at our schedule!

Many of the actions taken by European Member States under the Directive 2009/128/EC are relevant to the Biodiversity Strategy and the Farm to Fork Strategy. These strategies include the adoption of pesticide reduction targets and their substitution with low risks substances (biopesticides and novel low risk molecules).

The increasing of the use of novel biopesticides and biostimulant drive the attention also to elucidate their mechanism of action not only through the efficacy trials (phenotyping) but also using the OMICS sciences.

The OMICS include a series of approaches aimed to a comprehensive profiling of the whole set of genes (genomics), their expression profiles (transcriptomics), their translational results (proteomics) or the products of the downstream metabolic processes (metabolomics). These techniques have grown in recent years, driven by the improvement in analytics and bioinformatic tools for the efficient and high throughput analysis and interpretation of big data.

More classical approaches are hypothesis-driven and targeted to a limited number of measures, thus limiting the advance of knowledge when previous information is limited. On the contrary, -omics are hypothesis-free and are based on the a post-investigation on the genes, transcripts or metabolites changing because of a given factor. This latter allows a better representation of the complex interplay between processes in a biological system, and can therefore better represent the consequences of biotic and abiotic factors in a living organism, including plants, microorganisms, animals, and food systems.

These OMICS application will permit a correct understanding of the mechanism of action of the new low risk products (biopesticides, elicitor and biostimulant) and these information will be useful to support the registration dossier of these molecules.

Hence we have organized the free webinar

OMICS Science
to elucidate the mechanism of action of Biopesticides, Elicitor and Biostimulant

from 11:00 to 12:30 CET, on our Zoom platform, to discuss about:

  • The role of OMICS Science in the agri-food sector - Luigi Lucini, Professor @ Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore
  • Mode of action of plant biostimulant - Leilei Zhang, PhD @ Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore
  • Elicitor mode of action - Davide De Simeis, Business Development Manager @ Clever Bioscience

The event will be led in English.
Participation is free of charge. Limited seats only.
